Note: The diskette version of DONATION on this page is only for use with Windows XP, Vista, 2000 or 2003. If you will be installing DONATION on an older version of Windows (95, 98, NT or ME) please use this version.

This page gives special downloading and installation instructions for the case where you need to download using one computer, then install onto another computer, because you do not have an Internet connection on the computer you want to install onto.

For a normal installation onto the same computer you use for downloading, please see the Installation Instructions page.

The easiest way to download on one computer then install on another is to transfer the installation program, DONINST.EXE, via a CD-ROM or memory stick. If you can download onto a computer that has one of those devices, just write the DONINST.EXE file onto the CD-ROM or memory stick, take it to the computer you want to install into, and run DONINST.EXE from the CD-ROM or memory stick there.

If you do not have that option available to you, the following instructions tell you how to download the program to seven diskettes and then install from those diskettes on the other computer. The instructions are a bit lengthy, but hopefully none of the steps are particularly difficult in and of themselves.

  1. Prepare your diskettes

You will need seven blank diskettes. So that you can't mix them up, put paper labels on them reading "DONATION Disk 1" through "DONATION Disk 7".

  2. Download the files

    1. Insert the first diskette again into your diskette drive. Download the following file:
            DONINST.EXE
Select to Save it rather than Opening or Running it, and when it prompts you for where to save it, change the displayed filename to read:
            a:doninst.exe
After it has saved it, if it prompts you to Open the file or Close, pick Close.
    2. Remove that diskette and insert the 2nd diskette. Download the following file, in the same way (i.e. in this case Saving it to a:doninst.2):
            DONINST.2
    3. Remove that diskette and insert the 3rd diskette. Download the following file, in the same way:
            DONINST.3
    4. Remove that diskette and insert the 4th diskette. Download the following file, in the same way:
            DONINST.4
    5. Remove that diskette and insert the 5th diskette. Download the following file, in the same way:
            DONINST.5
    6. Remove that diskette and insert the 6th diskette. Download the following file, in the same way:
            DONINST.6
    7. Remove that diskette and insert the 7th diskette. Download the following file, in the same way:
            DONINST.7

  3. Bring those seven diskettes to the other computer, on which you want to do the installation.

  4. Insert the first diskette into the diskette drive.

  5. Open a Command Prompt or DOS Command window. To do that, use Start -> Run..., and enter "cmd", without the quotes, and click OK.

  6. Then in the window that comes up, enter the following command, followed by pressing Enter:
          a:doninst.exe
From that point on, just follow the prompts. It will prompt you to insert each of the diskettes in turn, as needed, as it runs the normal Setup program. For details on how the Setup process works, see the normal Installation Instructions page.
